ABOUT iMPAC FESTIVAL 2013

OBJECTIVE:
To foster the exploratory arm of the motion pictures industry within the African continent. To this end the emphasis is placed on innovative thinking and the creative use of available technology.

PROCESS:
To encourage the African filmmaker to expand his/her creative boundaries by initiating an environment in which filmmakers can be exposed to new ideas, promote their work and network within the established industry framework.

MISSION:
With the understanding that today’s exploratory work feeds into tomorrow’s mainstream industry, our mission is to assist African filmmakers to find an identity that is uniquely their own within the global community. iMPAC’s intention is to become the benchmark reference of conceptual thinking within the African audio-visual industry.

iMPAC 2013:
The first iMPAC Festival drew 2500 people over three days, and the 2011 festival drew over 5000 people indicating that there is an audience for exploratory film in Gauteng. Audiences were culturally diverse and included delegates from numerous embassies and key figures from the film, television and animation industries.
